Fly Like an Eagle

The skies above the battlefields of the world of Hammer’s Slammers:The Crucible are not the safest place to be; computer guided powerguns knock down just about anything that flies, from aircraft, VTOLs, air cars, even missiles and artillery shells.

Nevertheless, there are a number of units that still field VTOLs in the combat zone for their speed and versatility. These craft fly nap-of-the-earth, down amongst the weeds operating effectively as fast ground vehicles.

One such unit is the Eaglewing Squadron, which operates a mix of VTOLs, light hover vehicles and infantry on skimmers. They are currently re-equipping their VTOL wing, and the first new craft to enter service is the Demeter attack VTOL, slowly replacing the Eaglewing’s inventory of Ravens. It is a two-seater fitted with a tri-barrel chin turret and several wing hardpoints which can carry an assortment of stores.

The Demeter model comes in three resin parts (fuselage and two wings) and three metal parts (turret and two vertical tail fins). Available separately we have a pack of wing stores – two each of hyper-velocity missiles, gatling pods, rocket pods and anti-tank missiles. These have the pylon built in so you can fit the weapons wherever you like on the wing.

HS15-2602 – Demeter Attack VTOL – £12.00
SF15-937 – VTOL Weapons – £2.50

Love on a Farmboy’s Wages

Completing the week’s releases are two further Small Scale Scenery sets, one industrial and one agricultural.

The industrial set is a pair of Belgian dockside warehouses – they are taken from the design of the existing Hangar Waagnatie model, but in a handier size (there’s one two-bay model and one three-bay).

Out in the fields we have a handy set of Modern Farm Structures – metal barns and sheds, open-sided hay barns, two types of grain silo and water towers. Combined with our existing Agricultural Buildings and Walled Farms, you should be able to make almost any type of farm layout now.

SSS-8134 – Modern Structures – £5.50
SSS-8135 – Belgian Dockside Warehouses – £5.00

Personal Blowers

Interrupting the sequence of Small Scale Scenery releases, we’ve also uploaded the new 6mm Infantry on Skimmers packs to the website. A Skimmer is a one-man personal hover vehicle, a bit like a Jetski, used to give infantry much higher mobility. There are two versions with British and PacFed riders – unarmoured infantry in steel helmets, or infantry in full armour. Both come in packs of 12.

The models are very handy for some Hammer’s Slammers units – both the Wolverines and Anders Legion deploy infantry on skimmers.

SF300-167 – British Infantry Skimmers – £3.00
SF300-756 – PacFed Infantry Skimmers – £3.00

All come in packs of four, and are also available as options for the castle starter packs.

SSS-8122t – Circular Tower with Roof – £1.50
SSS-8122u – Octagonal Tower with Roof – £1.50
