Peter reports on his major lockdown project, making its debut at the club today.<\/em><\/p>\n

This is\u00a0my lock down project that\u2019s taken\u00a0the best part of two years to complete.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It is a modern warfare game using 20mm scale figures and the Force-on-Force rules from Ambush Alley Games<\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019ve played the rules a few times during past meetings with Mike, who left the club a couple of years ago. They were memorable games and great fun.\u00a0<\/span>That\u2019s why I decided to start assembling figures and models to put on a\u00a0game\u00a0based on the battle of\u00a0Falluja, Iraq, 2004.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here are the\u00a0first figures ready for action\u00a0\u2013\u00a0US Marines and a\u00a0Humvee\u00a0with Grenade\u00a0launcher.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After assembling and painting more US Marines and a couple more Humvees, I started on the Iraqi insurgents and foreign fighters.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

And a couple of Technicals with machine guns.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Next the terrain.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The game board is about 4\u2019x4\u2019 and depicts a section of a modern middle\u00a0eastern city with\u00a0damaged buildings, debris strewn streets\u00a0and abandoned vehicles all over the place.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I chose 4mm foam board for the construction of the buildings as it\u2019s readily available at\u00a0shops like Hobby Craft and the Range.\u00a0It\u2019s also easy to cut and it\u2019s light\u00a0to transport around.\u00a0The rest of the terrain\u00a0and building details\u00a0were\u00a0sourced from\u00a0places like\u00a0S&S models and\u00a0model railway shops.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here are some completed buildings.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Rubble mounds were made of scrunched up newspaper and coarse basing material from various wargames and modelling websites and all stuck down with good old PVA glue.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I\u00a0got hold of a plastic model Abrams M1A2 MBT\u00a0and enhanced it with\u00a0some baggage\u00a0and lose rubble.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

More\u00a0rubble and damaged buildings were made next \u2026<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The roads are black 3mm thick soft foam sprayed with grey paint and debris sand and rubble stuck down. The road markings were done with masking tape and paint \u2013 gently rubbed down with glass paper when dry.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
